Currently the world is faced with environmental challenges such as environmental pollution, Climate change, global warming and overexploitation of natural resources and loss of biodiversity. Many countries have made efforts of curbing these challenges through legislation of relevant laws and policies. However, natural resource utilization and management requires a holistic and multidisciplinary approach and in many times it has been the missing link. This is what the School of Environment and Natural Resources Management in Machakos University aims to provide. The school promotes environmental sustainability through training, research and community service for socio-economic transformation of our communities. The School currently comprises of two departments offering three undergraduate degree programmes: The programmes are Bachelor of Environmental Sciences, Bachelor of Environmental Studies (Resource Conservation) and Bachelor of Environmental Studies (Community Development). Our programmes equip the trainees with relevant technical skills and professional knowledge that will enable them to effectively manage, conserve the environment wherever they are. The school is committed to producing holistic graduates through quality training and research in environmental sciences, resource conservation and management. These are the future environmentalists/natural resource conservationists who are able to provide advisory services on the overall use, conservation and enhancement of environmental quality.
