Duties and responsibilities
- Preparing Quarterly and Annual financial reports and statements as per the required guidelines and timeframes set.
- Preparing Bank reconciliations and ensuring that all unreconciling items are reported and addressed and all payments are posted to the cashbook.
- General Ledgers updating and Trial balance preparation and balancing.
- Maintaining and updating the university chart of accounts to ensure that all vote heads are well set as per the budget and Financial reporting template.
- Checking of documents during the payment process to ensure vote-heads are well captured in the system for proper budgeting.
- Implementing financial policies, financial systems and internal controls in accordance with Public Finance Act.
- Advise on ERP matters touching on financial operations and financial management modules for effective and efficient reporting and operations.
- Preparing journal entries through the ERP system to effect bank charges, Provision for depreciation, Provision for Doubtful debts and amortization of deferred incomes and any other transactions not captured through receipting or payment.
- Acting as Liaison person during External Audit conducted by the Office of Auditor General.
- Preparing Audit files and all supporting Schedules to the Financial statements to be used during external Audit
